Always Out of Key

It'll be 2009 in under 12 hours. I've vowed to make the best of 2009, mainly for yours truly, though selfish as it may sound. I'm tyring to re-invent myself, you could say. At work, changing management, new committee - I'm honestly excited about returning to school. On the homefront, things are pretty rocky and everyone's thinking about benefiting themselves and not the family unit. Oh well, people change over time. You can spend your whole life (or the better part of it) with someone, only to realise that you know absolutely nothing about them or what they are capable of.

Which is why I decided to thrash my Multiply account. I'm not going to discard it completely, being the sentimental nut that I am. I'll link it and ever not-so often look through my entries, but this is where I pledge my loyalty to.

The name that I really wanted, from one of my favourite plays was, "dreamersoftenlie.blogspot.com". Apparently it was already taken so I had to make some adjustments and came up with "thedreamerlies". It had to be grammatical and smart, of course. Enough blabbering, and in light of this first ever post, I share with you one of my favourite poems by one of my favourite writers. Obviously, the inspiration for this blog. Enjoy!

A Dream Within A Dream

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow-
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand-
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep- while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
