Withdrawal Symptoms

I have yet to get over BNO... yet to get over Muse, to be exact. I'm listening to Paramore everyday to get ready for March 7th but I have this crazy urge to switch albums from Brand New Eyes to The Resistance each time. Eurgh. How like this? I've been YouTube-ing for videos on BNO in Singapore just to relive the concert. I am indeed a sad case.

Green Day had endurance but Muse had presence. It was truly an epic performance and an unforgettable experience. I still get goosebumps when I listen to the tracks. GOOSEBUMPS! Plus, I have caught myself on too many occasions humming their songs to myself. I need professional help.

I found this video. I am so making my kid learn to sing the song too! True story.
CLICK. I love that little jiggle she does when the rift gets heavier at the beginning. And she says she wants to pee but still sings anyway. And and the pout she does when she goes "oooh-oooh". I need to be sedated.

Big Night Out - Muse... Saosin & Rise Against

Woo hoo! Muse came down again and this time I managed to catch them. Went with the best friend, of course.

Saosin and Rise Against opened for them. I like Saosin and have always wanted to see them live. The drummer's fantastic! In my tone deaf opinion. I've never heard of Rise Against (sue me) but 3 bands in one night... it was surely a Big Night Out!

Tickets said 7pm but Muse only came on stage at 10pm. WTF, right? Saosin opened first and it took 30 minutes to set up for Rise Against and it took another 30 mins to set up for Muse. It was aggravating and the both of us were getting sleepy.

Saosin was LOUD! It was crazy loud! I don't think it was even legal to be that loud. But the quintet didn't seem to be interested at all with the gig. They came. They sang. They left. That sums up their performance. It was not memorable at all. They played my favourites: Voices, Come Close and You're Not Alone but there was no soul in them. At one point, the lead even sat on a speaker and sang. Terrible, really.

Rise Against came on and they received a rather thunderous applause from the audience. Yea, I felt like I was living under a rock all this while. The lead could not sing. He was so off and the drummer had the easiest job ever. There was no creativity at all and everything he played was so simple. They had more energy than Saosin, I have to admit but they were dreadful live. Absolutely dreadful.

10pm already. Muse better play for a good 2 hours else it would have been a bloody waste of time and money. They played for under an hour and a half. I was disappointed with 2 songs: Starlight and Undisclosed Desires. On the album, those 2 tracks are fantastic. Mind-blowing. The former being my 2nd favourite-est song ever. Yes, I said favourite-est. And the latter being my favourite song on their current album. They paled in comparison to the album when played live. They played a good mix of tracks from their current album and from their old albums. I have to put this on record... I have never seen our local audience that revved up at a concert before!! Plus, Muse didn't even have to do any gimmicks to get the crowd going!

They had awesome psychedelic light displays and cool special effects / music videos being played on the screen behind the band. It was truly an experience. Muse is hardcore. That said, I think Green Day is still better live than Muse is, however. They had more energy and lasted longer. 2 and a half hours... no breaks! Plus, Green Day had a drunk bunny open for them and they had fireworks! FIREWORKS! Muse only had smoke blowing.

I've about a month to learn songs from Paramore. Wish me well!

God Answers Prayers

OMG! The Killers cancelled!! Do you know how lucky I am??? The best friend was riding me for not getting the tickets and made me look EVERYWHERE for them. Ebay, forums and what-nots. I love him but man, he can be a major ass at times. I almost bought $500 tickets out of sheer desperation. They originally cost less than half that price. Almost got them.

Today, the Facebook page informed me of the cancellation and I literally jumped for joy with a WOOT!!

Bitch aside, I feel for those that bought the tickets. Rumours are flying around the cyberworld that the "unforseen" reasons for the cancellation is that the band has broken up.
CLICK. CLICK. Yea, research! Plus, imagine getting informed via Facebook of all places?? Not even Sistic nor Live Nation made an official statement. People were still gloating about the concert just a few hours before the "official" FB announcement and then in the following comments they started cursing! Hehehe.

I AM SO GLAD I DIDN'T GET SCALPER TICKETS!!! God, truly does answer prayers. Now before you start throwing stones, bricks, hot sauce at my direction, I did not pray for them to NOT come. I just prayed that there was a way for me to watch them.

Green Day

The day that I and many fans have been waiting for finally arrived. Green Day, after 20 years, have decided to head down to our sunny island! I was beside myself!! Plus, it was going to be their 21st Century Breakdown Tour!! Kudos to the best friend for getting wind of this and informing me. He knows people who keep abreast of concerts, events and the likes. He's cool like that.

The concert was mind-blowing. It will take me a lifetime to get over it. I am not exaggerating. It was everything I hoped that it would be and more. However, I wished they played more from their latest album which is heavier than their older ones. It did get the crowd going though, when they played from Dookie. Ahhh... I like Dookie.

The highlight for me would be when they invited (pulled/carried at some times) members of the audience onto the stage to rock out with them! It was fan-fucking-tastic! I'm sorry but an experience like that deserves some vulgarity.

I'm pretty sure Billie Joe Armstrong was impressed with us as an audience. We belted out almost a whole song and he literally got on his hands and knees and bowed at us. Yea, we kicked ass.

The only thing that can outdo this concert would be if the Foo Fighters made their way here. But they're not. *pouts* Till then, this is the best live concert. Period.

It's Only Been A Week???

Why is it when my brothers go off, it's called "work" but for me it's going off to "school"??? Bah.

A week has already passed and somehow I feel like it's been more than just a week. It should be the end of Term 2!! That's how drained I am. The good thing is that I'm following up my class. I don't have to go through all of that
bonding, orientation etc... I walked into class and basically told my class, "So... the rules are the same as last year. So let's move on." I know the boys, the boys know me. That makes a lot of difference!

The department meetings are over and I really hope I don't burn out or drown too soon. I must stay on top of things and not only show that I know my shit, but that I can multi-task and get things done. I just want to kick ass this year!

Let's take a look at what I'm up to this year. Thus far.
  • Video for Math Com
  • Video for Sci Com
  • Skit for both CNY and Total Defence Day celebrations
  • Co-IC for International Friendship Day
  • IC for P2 Evening of Theatre
  • Presenter for EL Parenting Conference
That should be all. For now. I must be strong and I really need to psych myself up to get through all of that in one piece.

Good news is that the 1st Quarter is going to kick ass because of the concert line-ups!
  • Green Day - 14 Jan
  • Muse - 3 Feb
  • Paramore - 7 Mar
  • Imogen Heap - 29 Mar
*runs around the room*

I am relatively happy but we all know that doesn't quite last. But for now, it feels fantastic.

Looks Like It Could Be A Good 2010

We have Green Day and Imogen Heap coming down next year. Best Friend is a fan of both, just like me, so we're going to have a smashing good time at both concerts, I'm sure.

His sources tell him that the
Foo Fighters are coming down sometime in June 2010. I searched about almost everywhere and turned up with nothing. I've signed up to so many sites so that I'd get notified when they list a new concert venue.

If they do in fact come down HERE - TO SINGAPORE - next year, I will
die die catch them, and then I can die a happy person. True story.

*edit Happy birthday, Dude. Enjoy your trip!
